As a college preparatory school, EMHS believes that each student should be exposed to a rigorous, academically challenging curriculum. Students are encouraged to take the appropriate level of each course based on pre-requisites, teacher recommendations, and individual interests.
For students in the Class of 2020, 28 credits are required for graduation. In order to earn the Timberwolf Diploma of Excellence, a student must fulfill the following:

- Earn four credits in math, one of which is at least Algebra 2 or higher;
- Receive a passing score on an assessment in Reading, English, Math, Science, and History determined by the New Mexico Public Education Department requirements; and
- Have experience taking a career, workforce, distance learning, or college course
