2011 Isotopes Season Update
Dear EMHS Families:
Did you know that during the 2009 - 2010 school year, the East Mountain High School Booster Club contributed over $30,000 towards the cost of providing our students with the opportunity to play over ten interscholastic athletic programs?
We couldn't do this without you!
The largest fundraiser each year organized by the EMHS Booster Club is staffing a large concession stand at Albuquerque Isotopes games. Not only is this a highly successful fundraiser, but it also provides an opportunity for the community to come together in support of EMHS athletics and to have some fun!
Families with students planning to participate in athletics during the 2011 -2012 school year are required to work 6 slots per student per sport played or pay $20.00 per each slot if you do not wish to work at the games. ($120.00 per student, per sport played) One slot is equal to one person working one game.
This year the EMHS Booster Club is committed to working over 30 Isotopes games. Here is how to sign up for your slots:
- Email isotopes@eastmountainhigh.net.
- Please volunteer 72 hours or more in advance of the games. If we have a large group of volunteers, we can work a larger stand and make more money.
- Indicate the dates you would like to volunteer and the names of all volunteers in your group. Please include in the email your contact number.
- Please note if any of the volunteers are alcohol certified.
- Volunteers will be assigned to games on a first come, first served basis. If the game you are requesting is already full you will be notified so that you can have the opportunity to choose other date(s).
If you have not completed your volunteering by the end of the Isotopes season, you will be billed $20 per unfilled slot. The official record will be the sign-in sheet at each game, so please make sure you sign in and indicate what sport you are representing.
Here is some other important information for working games:
- Please show up 2 hours before game time.
- High school aged students are allowed to volunteer but must be at least 15 years old and are required to have a work permit with them.
- Please wear closed-toe shoes for safety.
- The Isotopes officials require that we wear khaki shorts or pants (not green or camo). If we do not they subtract 2% per person that violates the dress code off of our profits.
- Lip piercings are not allowed and a plastic placeholder must be used. Eyebrow or nose piercings are acceptable.
- No cell phone use is allowed in the stand in public areas.
- If you have to cancel your volunteering at the last minute, please contact Booster Club Representative Roberta Beavis at 505-620-1710 (cell).
It is particularly important that we have enough alcohol-certified volunteers. You can become alcohol-certified by doing the following:
- Contact Lalene at Alcohol Server Education at 453-5801.
- Classes are held at 1607 Carlisle Blvd. at Gibson.
- Classes are Thurs., Fri., Sat. & Sun. at 10:00am or Tues. & Weds. at 5:15pm.
- You do not need to pre-register – just show up.
- You must be 21 years of age and have your valid government photo ID with you.
- Classes are four hours and cost $30.00. You must pay with cash or a money order.
Volunteering at Isotopes games isn’t limited to parents with students in athletics – anyone can participate and all hours worked count toward the requirement of 72 volunteer hours per family per year. Questions about volunteering? Please contact Lori Webster at 281-7400 x. 168 or lwebster@eastmountainhigh.net.
