Campbell Ranch & EMHS Partner to Raise Funds
Posted March 22, 2010
East Mountain High School (EMHS) was selected by developer Campbell Ranch to be the charity beneficiary of HGTV Dream Home tours. “We were inspired by the beauty of the HGTV Dream Home to select a quality partner for the Dream Home tours,” said Campbell Ranch President Robert Gately. “EMHS surpassed our expectations in engaging the community to show off the 2010 Dream Home. We look forward to working with them on future community events.”
During the four weekends that tours were offered, more than 2,000 guests visited the Dream Home. Twenty-five percent of the guests were from outside New Mexico, and several visitors traveled from Alaska, Hawaii and London. An additional 40 million international viewers tuned in online and on-air to watch the HGTV Dream Home tour special that featured local New Mexico culture and landscapes.
According to EMHS Principal Doug Wine, the charter school raised over $40,000 through the Dream Home tours at San Pedro Overlook. “The community really responded when we asked for their help to staff the public tours. More than 100 volunteers donated over 1300 hours to make the Dream Home tours possible.”
The proceeds from the public tours will allow the school to make needed capital investments, including replacement of the school’s aging activity bus and upgrading wireless Internet technology with fiber optic service.
