John Jenne Memorial Scholarship

THE JOHN JENNE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

East Mountain High School students graduating in 2012 may apply for the $1000.00 John Jenne Memorial Scholarship for Community Service.

The applicant for this scholarship must present:

  • a cumulative 3.0 grade-point-average,
  • evidence of a passion for community service,
  • and evidence of a desire to develop this passion later in life.

Each of the scholarship recipients shall be a graduate or graduating senior of EMHS, accepted to either a 4-year accredited college or university, or an EMHS student currently enrolled in such a college or university. The beneficiary of the Jenne Scholarship may use the scholarship in support of his/her educational expenses. The scholarship does not have to be paid back; however, we would encourage the recipients to donate to the scholarship fund when they have graduated or have begun their career, so that other students can benefit and so that the fund remains in existence as long as possible.

The three-person selection committee will consist of Dr. Jenne’s wife, Betty, an active member East Mountain Great Decisions Committee, and the EMHS Principal or designee.  This scholarship will be offered as long as funds are available.

A resident of Sandia Park, NM, John Jenne was a physician and a chemist; a person who cared deeply for the welfare of people; a person greatly concerned with issues of justice both locally and globally; and one who acted on his beliefs in a non-intrusive manner.

All applications are due to the John Jenne Scholarship Committee in care of the East Mountain High School Guidance office on or before April 16, 2012.  The application form and instructions are below:
