A background check is required by state law and school policy for volunteers who will be interacting closely with students. Examples of volunteers who may need background checks include tutors, mentors, chaperones, volunteer drivers, coaches and Discovery Project volunteers. Background checks are good for two years.

To complete your background check, please do the following:

Fill out the online application and submit your payment of $22.00 in person or via mail to EMHS, Attn. Gwen Brown. If you prefer not to submit your information online, please download the background check application form and submit it with your payment. Payment can be made by credit card in person in the EMHS Front Office or in personal or by mail through a check made out to East Mountain High School.


You must also complete the forms in the background check packet (available to download below) and return those to EMHS.


If you have already had a background check done through the school, those background checks are good for two years. If you have evidence of a clear background check done by another institution, please submit this information to Gwen Brown for verification. Please allow one week for processing of your background check application. Processing begins when your payment is received. As of November 1, 2013, fingerprints are no longer required to process a background check application due to changes made by the Department of Public Safety.
