East Mountain High School has defeated Generation’s School of Karachi, Pakistan in the International Public Policy Forum. Seniors Gina Sanchez and Juniors Hannah Linder and Tiffany Delgado defeated the international school on the topic: “Resolved: International climate accords for greenhouse gas emissions should adopt binding enforcement mechanisms.”
Evaluated by three judges, EMHS won the decision of all three ballots. Of the 32 teams left, EMHS is one of only two teams remaining that qualified to the top 8 in last year’s competition.
EMHS now faces Vermillion High School from Ohio in the Round of 32.
The final 8 teams receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City to debate the remaining teams in person. This is the 6th year EMHS has been named one of the top debate teams in the world.
The IPPF is sponsored by the Brewer Foundation and New York University.
