EMHS Speech and Debate Heading to World’s Largest Academic Competition

From June 12-18, eight students from East Mountain High School will be competing at the world’s largest academic competition: the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Salt Lake City, UT.

Seniors Matt Bedeaux, Ben Lopez, Ethan Wade, Juniors Chloe Hecht, Jessie Linder, Sofia Hoskins, Sophomore Gina Sanchez, and Freshman Tiffany Delgado all won the right to represent New Mexico at the National Tournament after winning 1st or 2nd place in their individual events.

This is the 8th year in a row that EMHS has qualified to the National Tournament. Additionally, for the past four years in a row, EMHS has performed well enough to appear in the final rounds of the tournament.
