Molly Maid Mother's Day Contest

In April 2011, Molly Maid of NE and NW Albuquerque sponsored a Mother’s Day essay contest at East Mountain High School. The challenge was to write an essay about why mom deserved a clean house for Mother’s Day. The grand prize winner received a top to bottom home cleaning from Molly Maid.

The winning essay is below:

Appreciation is Never Paid In Full

Chauffeur. Chef. Nanny. Provider. Maid. Cheerleader. Teacher. Life Coach. My mother is all of these things. But, unlike people who do these jobs as “professionals,” she isn’t paid, or at least not enough. If she was, she’d be a billionaire.

On Mother’s Day, I always feel like there’s nothing I could do that would come close to sufficiently thanking my mom for all she does. I mean, she cooks, cleans, drives me places and I usually spend ten minutes on a short poem and homemade card! But what (reasonably priced) gift could I give could I give that could communicate my appreciation for her?

That was why I jumped at the chance to write this essay. Nothing I could do could come close to repaying my mother for all she does, but giving her a clean house that she didn’t have to slave over herself might come closer than I ever have before.
