Bowling Gets 8th State Championship

The Timberwolves won the 2018 New Mexico State BowlingChampionship!
This is the 8th state title for the school and Coach Belden.
The EMHS State bowling team made up of Jared Anicito, Malcom Ross, Riley Tarman, Max Martin, Clayton Severs, Chase Podzemny and Martha Lang are the 2018 A-AAAA State Champions! Their scores in the morning qualified them as the number one seed giving them a 1st round bye. In the 2nd round they bowled Silver City and beat them in 2 straight game in the best 2 out of 3 baker games. The next round they faced Cottonwood who was the only other undefeated team and East Mountain swept them 2 straight too and that put them in the Championship match. They then had to wait for Bosque, Silver City, Sandia Prep, Cottonwood and Pojoaque to battle it out for the winner in the losers bracket.  Pojoaque emerged and for the 5th year in a row we battled them for the State Championship and won in 2 straight for the State Championship! Martha Lang anchored the team rolling a 581 series and receiving the high game award (female) and a 209 receiving the high series award (female). Clayton Severs shot a 571 series to pick up the 3rd high series award (male) for the A-AAAA division. Picking up All-State awards for East Mountain was Martha Lang, Clayton Severs and Max Martin.
Seniors Malcolm Ross, Riley Tarman and Chase Podzemny played in the tournament and were given additional points based on GPA and the number of years they have competed. Chase Podzemny qualified 1st in Division 2 and finished 5th place in the brackets earning him a $200 scholarship.
