Timberwolf Diploma of Excellence

As a college preparatory school, EMHS believes that each student should be exposed to a rigorous, academically challenging curriculum. Students are encouraged to take the appropriate level of each course based on pre-requisites, teacher recommendations, and individual interests.

For s tudents in the Classes of 2012 and 2013, 26 credits are required for graduation. Students will be given the opportunity to receive the Timberwolf Diploma of Excellence by earning an additional two credits in a subject area of their choice, for a total of 28 credits earned.

For students in the Classes of 2014 and 2015, 28 credits are required for graduation. In order to earn the Timberwolf Diploma of Excellence, a student must fulfill the following:

  • Earn two electives in one subject area over the minimum requirements (i.e. six math credits or three fine arts credits);
  • Earn four credits in math, one of which is at least Algebra 2 or higher;
  • Receive a passing score on the New Mexico Graduation Assessment or portfolio of standards-based indicators; and
  • Have experience taking a career, workforce, distance learning, or college course
