Student Support

East Mountain High School offers a range of programs and supports to assist students in meeting any health, learning or personal challenges they may be facing. Our dedicated staff includes a full-time school nurse, a full-time school social worker, a specialist in working with students’ learning difficulties and a specialist in gifted education. We believe that all students can be successful in a college preparatory school with the right support.

Homework Center

Homework Center is designed to ensure that students will complete their assignments successfully. When a student doesn’t turn in an assignment on the day it is due, he or she is required to stay after school for an hour in Homework Center to work on the assignment. A licensed teacher and peer tutors are available to provide the support and help that the student needs in order to complete the assignment successfully. When the student completes the assignment, he or she can then turn it into the teacher for partial credit. This keeps students from accumulating zeros and helps students pass classes and receive credit. Many studies show that if students spend too much time in school without earning credits, they start to learn failure and stop believing that they can be successful students. Homework Center is designed to stop the cycle of failure before it can get started. Homework Center is funded through a grant from Bank of the West.
