East Mountain High School encourages all sophomores, juniors and seniors to take advantage of the opportunity to earn college credits at CNM and UNM while attending high school. Students earn both high school and college credit and may enroll in a maximum of 18 credit hours. These dual credit classes are FREE and EMHS will pay for students' textbooks.
The first three steps to enrolling in CNM dual credit courses are:
- apply to CNM (on-line or in-person)
- complete the on-line orientation
- take the Accuplacer test, which CNM requires to place students in the appropriate class
Students may also use their ACT or SAT scores in lieu of taking the Accuplacer. Visit http://www.cnm.edu/depts/enrollment/highschoolaged/dcenrollmentprocess.php for additional information about the Dual Credit program. Download the checklist for applying online and completing the online orientation for more information.
Visit the EMHS Guidance Office for more information on how dual credit opportunities can help students further their education. We are happy to discuss the process with individual families and students.
