East Mountain High School constituents (stakeholders) will demonstrate their support of and commitment to the school’s Vision and Mission. In addition:
Student Goals
The East Mountain High School student will:
- Acquire the knowledge and become proficient in the skills needed to succeed in academic disciplines in accordance with state high school standards as well as in college preparatory expectations;
- Develop essential life skills to become a self-directed, self-advocating, and self-reflective lifelong learner;
- Act responsibly with integrity toward and respect for others
- Demonstrate increased understanding and value for diversity;
- Personally invest in the school, local, and global communities.
Faculty and Staff Goals
The East Mountain High School faculty and staff will:
- Engage, challenge, and inspire each student to achieve excellence;
- Partner with students and their families to help students achieve rigorous academic standards, personal goals, behavioral expectations, and understanding of and value for diversity;
- Work individually and collaboratively to achieve the school’s vision, mission, and related goals;
- Model personal, academic, and social lifelong learning skills by continually seeking to increase professional knowledge as well as improve instructional practices and student learning;
- Provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages responsible risk-taking, fosters healthy psychological development, and teaches students how to learn from experiences.
Administration Goals
The East Mountain High School Administration will:
- Assure that each student achieves at least one year of learning for each year that student attends the school;
- Assure the execution and evaluation of the EMHS Governing Council Vision, Mission, Charter, and Strategic Plan;
- Hire, mentor, lead, and inspire the EMHS staff to ensure students meet or exceed their goals, and,
- Meet or exceed all state mandates for education;
- Provide daily stability, safety, and predictability for the community.
Parents Goals
The East Mountain High School parents will:
- Play an active role in the education of their student and understand the importance of their student becoming a responsible individual;
- Expect that their student will be successful in school, challenged at times, and receive support in the attainment of their work;
- Support school policies and programs that encourage attainment of student goals;
- Participate in and support curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities through volunteering time and talent while working cooperatively with school staff;
- Promote school organizations such as SPSO, Governing Council, the Foundation, and the Booster Club.
Foundation Goals
The East Mountain High School Foundation members will:
- Promote the programs of East Mountain High School;
- Raise funds to support the near and long-term financial stability of East Mountain High School;
- Manage land and buildings in trust for the continued operation of East Mountain High School;
- Partner with other constituencies to improve the programs and perception of East Mountain High School.
Community Goals
The East Mountain High School community members will:
- Advocate for and act as partners with the school;
- Expect and require that students be prepared for employment and leadership;
- Establish strong, meaningful links through programs such as internships; mentorships, shadowing, service learning, sponsorships, and classroom programs;
- Support and promote East Mountain High School programs and activities.
Governing Council Goals
The East Mountain High School Governing Council will:
- In partnership with the Principal, approve, lead and oversee the realization of the EMHS Vision, Mission, Charter, and Strategic Plan.
- Ensure the financial security of the school.
- Ensure the campus, equipment and facilities – including those of other entities – meet the educational, safety and security needs of the school.
- Adopt school policies that are lawful and provide appropriate direction for everyone involved with the school.
- Evaluate the success of the Principal in meeting state, federal, and charter mandates.
