EMHS Science Teachers Bradd Schulke and Marisa Salazar receive a grant from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to improve the quality of wildlife habitat on the school’s campus, while also providing students with the opportunity to do original scientific research.
February
EMHS partners with Campbell Ranch to offer tours of the 2010 HGTV Dream Home in San Pedro Overlook. Over 2,000 tour the home and EMHS receives over $40,000 in proceeds. Over 100 volunteers donate over 1,300 hours to make the Dream Home tours possible.
March
The EMHS Bowling Team wins its third consecutive state championship. Trevor Crombie, Ryan Knight and Greg Stottlemyer are named to the All-State Team.
The EMHS Innoventure Team competes in the annual New Mexico State University Innoventure competition, winning Best Marketing Plan, Best Prototype, Best Oral Presentation and First Place Overall. Team members Lana Kimmel, Marc Lucero, Josh Young, Joseph Young and Conner Colson create a stacked garden in response to the competition challenge to create a product that can improve life in the developing world.
April
With funding provided by the East Mountain High School Foundation, EMHS becomes the first public high school in New Mexico to provide the ACT free of charge for all juniors. The percentage of students scoring college-ready outpaces the state by 15 to 30 points.

69 students cross the stage at the Class of 2010 graduation ceremony. Students are awarded over $915,000 in scholarships and 94% will be attending a college or university in the fall. Trevor Crombie is the first EMHS graduate to attend an Ivy League university.
June
Thousands of students from across the United States travel to Kansas City to compete in the 85th annual National Forensic League National Speech and Debate Tournament, the largest academic competition in the world. Three EMHS students – Alyssa Yarber, Ray Demarest and Tim Bedeaux -- are among that select group.
EMHS receives 25 new desktop computers and 20 new laptop computers through a joint donation from Sun Healthcare Group and New Mexico TechNet.
July
Paa-ko Ridge Golf Club hosts the annual EMHS Foundation Corley’s Night Under the Stars Gala. Over $50,000 is raised to support East Mountain High School through the support of dozens of generous sponsors, including Lead Sponsor Eddie Corley, Jr. of Corley’s Albuquerque Lincoln Mercury Volvo.

365 students enter the halls of EMHS for the 2010 -2011 school year.
The State of New Mexico announces that East Mountain High School has achieved Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2009 – 2010 school year, based on New Mexico Standards Based Assessment scores (see table below). This is the sixth consecutive year EMHS has achieved AYP and it is the only Albuquerque-area high school to do so.

Over 75% of the senior class enrolls in English 1101/1150 through Central New Mexico Community College. In a unique partnership, EMHS students can earn six college credits by taking college writing and literature in place of a traditional Senior English class. The class is taught on campus by EMHS teachers holding Masters degrees.

Mountain High School Principal Doug Wine is named a "Top Performing CEO" by the New Mexico Business Weekly. He joins CEOs of businesses and organizations such as Lovelace Westside Hospital, Bank of Albuquerque, the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority and ACCION.
October
The East Mountain High School Foundation presents Eddie Corley, Jr. with the Roger Cox Spirit of Giving Award at an event at the Albuquerque Museum. Over 200 guests attend the event, which also serves as a celebration of the tenth anniversary of East Mountain High School.
EMHS seniors Arana Schulke and Pete Smiley took first place at the Fourth Annual New Mexico Statewide Youth Business Plan Competition with their
plan to open Pete’s Weiners, a business catering hot dog lunches to students at EMHS. As the statewide winners, they receive $800 to invest in their business and will travel to Orlando in July, all expenses paid, to represent New Mexico in a national youth business plan competition.

Mountain High School
honors 175 students for academic achievement during the 2009 – 2010 school year in an event at the school’s Fisher and Smith Memorial Gymnasium. This represents 67% of eligible students. Students earn their place on the Dean’s List by achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher during either the fall or the spring term.

EMHS becomes the largest school for speech and debate in New Mexico, taking the top spot from Albuquerque Academy. In addition to this accomplishment, East Mountain High School Speech and Debate Coach Trey Smith receives the prestigious National Forensic League Diamond Award.
