The Governing Council is composed of from five to nine community members, and Council members serve three-year terms. Each spring, the Governing Council takes applications from volunteers who would like to serve on the EMHS Governing Council. All Governing Council meetings are open to the public and are conducted in accordance with the New Mexico Open Meetings Act. A monthly business meeting is held on the second Monday followed by an educational topics meeting on the fourth Monday at 6:00pm in the Community Room located in Building One on the EMHS campus.

Governing Council Committee Meeting Schedule:
FINANCE/AUDIT: Wednesday preceding final monthly Governing Council Meeting from 3:45-4:45 p.m.
POLICY: 1st Tuesday of the month from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
SCHOOL EXPANSION: 1st Thursday of the month from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
STRATEGIC PLANNING: Thursday following each Governing Council Meeting 5:30-7:00 p.m.
The Recruitment and Student Learning committees will convene as necessary.
