The EMHS Open Enrollment Period begins on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, and will begin accepting lottery applications for the 2010 – 2011 school year. The Open Enrollment Period will close on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 4pm.
Parents/Guardians must complete a Lottery Form for new
students only; continuing EMHS students will complete the registration
process in April 2010. The Lottery Form is available in the EMHS Front
Office daily between 8am and 4pm. The completed Lottery Form must be hand delivered to East Mountain High School, located at 25 La Madera Road, Sandia Park. Incomplete Lottery Forms and Lottery Forms received by mail, fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
All Lottery Forms must be received in the office by 4pm on Wednesday, March 10th,
to be considered. For rising Sophomore, Junior and Senior applicants,
a current transcript and courses in progress must accompany the Lottery
Form at the time of submission.
Should applicants for the 2010 – 2011 Freshman Class exceed allotted openings, the EMHS Lottery will be held at 5:00pm, Friday, March 12, 2010, to establish class enrollments and waiting list order. (You need not be present at the Lottery drawing to be admitted to EMHS.)
Important Information:
- Siblings of EMHS students are automatically accepted in the 2010 – 2011 Freshman Class and do not have to go through the actual drawing of names in the lottery process. However, a Lottery Form MUST be completed and submitted by the March 10th deadline.
- EMHS expects approximately 90 freshmen openings. For example, if 30 students are admitted as siblings, the lottery process will determine the remaining 60 students. If there are more than 60 applicants, a waiting list will be created in the order that the student’s name was drawn.
- Sophomore, Junior and Senior applicants will participate in the lottery process and be placed on a waiting list in the order they are drawn in the lottery. Siblings of EMHS students will move to the top of the waiting list. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will be admitted on a space-available basis after current EMHS students register.
- If a Lottery Form is received after 4pm on Wednesday, March 10th, the student will be placed at the end of the waiting list established by the Lottery. The family will receive a phone call if and when an opening becomes available.
- If a sibling of an EMHS student fails to meet the March 10th deadline, he/she forfeits the automatic acceptance into the 2010 – 2011 class. The student will then be placed at the end of the waiting list established by the Lottery.
