Dear EMHS Community,

Now that July has arrived, I am excited to move in to my new position as the principal of EMHS. Having served on the EMHS staff these past twelve years, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know a lot of you. But I really do hope to get to know all of you.
When I was a high school student living in Sandia Park, EMHS was not yet an option for me. But the relationships I formed with my teachers at Manzano convinced me that education would be my life’s work. I became a teacher because of the impact those teachers had on my life, and I’ve become a principal because I want to make sure that every one of our students has that same chance at a life-changing experience.
Our community here at EMHS is special, and our small campus size provides students a better opportunity to form those important bonds. The connections that our students develop with each other and the caring mentorship our staff provides will be the main ingredients to our school’s success.
There will be challenges, as there always are in education. But with open lines of communication and putting caring relationships at the center of what we do, I believe we can offer our students the best educational experience in the state of New Mexico.
Please reach out if I can answer any questions or if you ever have any concerns.  Thank you for allowing me to serve this community. I’m really excited for the upcoming school year!

Principal, East Mountain High School
